The Hon. Minister of State for Youth Development Mr. Olawande Emmanuel Ayodele received the National
leadership of the Nigerian Youth Union(NYU) who were on a courtesy visit to his Abuja office.
According to the President of NYU, Chinonso Obasi who led other national delegations to the Minister, the meeting was in continuation of the Union’s consultation visit in the quest to press home the mapped-out solutions to some challenges bedeviling Nigerian Youths.
It was on Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day commemoration that NYU addressed a press conference themed “The State of Nigerian Youths” and at the end of the statement it read that NYU shall visit relevant stakeholders in the country to address issues surrounding Nigerian Youths. Today’s visit to the Hon. Minister of State for Youth Development is in line with the position of that press conference, Obasi said.
According to Obasi, there is an urgent need to reorganize the Nigerian Youth structure and reorient Nigerian Youths for national cohesion.
The NYU President unequivocally reminded the Hon. Minister how badly the bad economy, insecurity, unemployment, and lack of infrastructure are biting wholeheartedly on Nigerian youths.
The Minister hailed the Nigerian Youth Union(NYU) on her advocacies for a better Nigeria, citing; NYU’s advocacy for a functional Primary Healthcare system, Local Government autonomy, illegal mining, Youth Inclusion in governance, and anticorruption crusades.
Mr. Ayodele thanked NYU leadership for the visit and assured them of the ministry’s readiness to collaborate with NYU on patriotic calls aimed at national solidarity and youth development.
